{"id":41273,"date":"2016-04-06T10:37:36","date_gmt":"2016-04-06T17:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/?p=41273"},"modified":"2019-03-06T12:00:15","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T20:00:15","slug":"the-bfg-official-trailer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/the-bfg-official-trailer\/","title":{"rendered":"First Official Trailer for The BFG Teases the Magic of Spielberg and Disney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British author Roald Dahl&#8217;s children&#8217;s stories have been ripe for film adaptations since 1971&#8217;s <em>Willy Wonk &amp; the Chocolate Factory.<\/em> We&#8217;ve seen beloved adaptations of <em>Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, The Witches, Fantastic Mr. Fox,<\/em> and more.<\/p>\n<p>Now, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/hitlist.asp?searchfield=disney&amp;utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=entertainment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney&#8217;s<\/a> at it again, this time with director Steven Spielberg at the helm, with a new film adaptation of <em><strong>The BFG.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The official trailer was released yesterday, so have a look:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GZ0Bey4YUGI\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There has been some scrutiny over the trailer (the CGI and dark-lit scenes, mainly), but if there&#8217;s one thing I&#8217;m always willing to keep an open mind for, it&#8217;s the awe and wonder of Spielberg films.<\/p>\n<p>He doesn&#8217;t always have hits on his hands, but there&#8217;s no denying that Spielberg is a master of his craft, and when everything comes together, it&#8217;s magic. Hopefully this will be a case of that.<\/p>\n<p>There are plenty of discussions about trailers right now &#8211; whether or not they give too much away, whether they accurately represent the film, how they&#8217;re edited, etc. &#8211; but the fact of the matter is that they are a part of movie culture, and can be done well or not.. I think there is more good than bad in this trailer, even if it&#8217;s not put together in its best form, and I&#8217;m looking forward to checking out the film!<\/p>\n<p><em>The BFG<\/em> stars Mark Rylance, Rebecca Hall, Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement, Penelope Wilton, and Ruby Barnhill.
