{"id":42337,"date":"2016-04-25T11:31:57","date_gmt":"2016-04-25T18:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/?p=42337"},"modified":"2019-03-06T11:26:44","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T19:26:44","slug":"x-men-apocalypse-final-trailer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/x-men-apocalypse-final-trailer\/","title":{"rendered":"Final X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer Could Reveal the Deliverance This Franchise Needs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hollywood has yet to truly crack the code regarding the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/hitlist.asp?theme=X-Men&amp;utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=entertainment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X-Men<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In director Bryan Singer&#8217;s franchise (which is comprised of two phases at this point), they&#8217;ve gotten closest with <em>X2: X-Men United<\/em> and <em>X-Men: First Class,<\/em> one of which wasn&#8217;t even directed by Singer.<\/p>\n<p>Bombastic and largely over-serious, the <em>X-Men<\/em> films for the most part aren&#8217;t actually bad by any stretch of the imagination, they also just haven&#8217;t been as great as their potential promises.<\/p>\n<p>The final trailer for the latest mutant film, <em><strong>X-Men: Apocalypse,<\/strong><\/em> was released this morning and it looks like the most bombastic and over-serious iteration yet. But also there&#8217;s something in it that seems to promise dumb fun, too, and perhaps finally the deliverance this franchise has needed.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Jer8XjMrUB4\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s nothing new in the way of plot with this trailer, but there&#8217;s an onslaught of footage, some of which looks wearisome, some of which looks like great, fun spectacle. Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, the &#8220;star&#8221; of this current <em>X-Men<\/em> phase, steps up the plate, ready to lead Xavier&#8217;s (James McAvoy) new students against Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac).<\/p>\n<p>Plus: there&#8217;s explicit confirmation of the father-son relationship between Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Quicksilver (Evan Peters), as well as a brief glimpse of a fan-favorite mutant at the end of the trailer.<\/p>\n<p>This could be Singer&#8217;s last directorial outing with this franchise and if so, hopefully he goes out with a bang, paving the way for Hollywood to try again with some of Marvel&#8217;s biggest and best heroes.<\/p>\n<p><em>X-Men: Apocalypse<\/em> is set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016, directed by Bryan Singer, and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Olivia Munn, and Oscar Isaac.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Jer8XjMrUB4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hollywood has yet to truly crack the code regarding the X-Men.
