Finally! Just about anybody who has been keeping up-to-date with Netflix\u2019s <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/hitlist.asp?theme=Daredevil&amp;utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=entertainment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daredevil <\/a><\/strong><\/em>series has been eagerly awaiting the moment when the growing power-house of a video streaming service would announce that they\u2019re moving forward with a series The Punisher could call his very own.<\/p>\n<p>It was never a guarantee, but a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/hitlist.asp?theme=Punisher&amp;utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=entertainment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Punisher<\/em><\/strong><\/a> show seemed like such an obvious and natural step for Netflix to make after the continued smash hit success of <em>Daredevil,<\/em> which just finished its second season, especially with how everything fell into place so fittingly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The Punisher is back. Locked and loaded.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nGKCa2taEV\">https:\/\/t.co\/nGKCa2taEV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Netflix US (@netflix) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/netflix\/status\/726041802080317440\">April 29, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>From Jon Bernthal\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com/news\/2016\/04\/15\/daredevil-punisher-review-body-vibe-exclusive\/\">spot-on casting<\/a> as ex-marine-turned-bloodthirsty vigilante, Frank Castle, to the way in which the <em>Daredevil<\/em> series left The Punisher and his backstory so wide-open for a deeper exploration, there seemed almost no way that Netflix wasn\u2019t going to do a spin-off <em>Punisher<\/em> series.<\/p>\n<p>Really, it would have been more shocking if Netflix <em>hadn\u2019t<\/em> chosen to do <em>The Punisher<\/em> as a series.<\/p>\n<p>Now we get to wait and see exactly just what kind of Frank Castle and Punisher the Netflix series will give us. Are we going to get the over-the-top Punisher who defies laws of physics by forgoing a jetpack and instead uses only hate in order to fly? Probably not.<\/p>\n<p>In all likelihood, we\u2019re going to get a <em>Punisher<\/em> show that plays off of the darkness presented in <em>Daredevil<\/em>, especially\u00a0considering that Executive Producer and showrunner for <em>The Punisher<\/em> will be\u00a0<em>Hannibal<\/em> writer and producer, Steven Lightfoot, who had this to say about the upcoming\u00a0<em>Punisher<\/em> series:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;For me, the complexity and unpredictability of Frank Castle make him an incredibly compelling character and I couldn\u2019t be more excited to dive into his world. After watching Jon\u2019s performance in \u2018Marvel\u2019s Daredevil\u2019 I could not be more excited to be working with him to further develop and progress the story of this anti-hero in a show of his own.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We&#8217;re excited for\u00a0<em>The Punisher<\/em> series.\u00a0If <em>Daredevil<\/em> has been feeling a little too light-hearted for you, there\u2019s little doubt that <em>The Punisher<\/em> series will yank away any warm or fuzzy feelings that you once had by blasting them to pieces.<\/p>\n<p>Are you excited for the Punisher to get his own Netflix series?
