Really excited.

So excited, in fact, that we can’t stop talking about Star Wars and what we love most about it. In that vein, some of us decided to see what exactly we all love and how fans embrace this franchise in different ways via a fun Q&A!

1. Who is your favorite character in the Star Wars universe?

Kristin: Chewy or the Ewoks. Duh.

Kiana: Lando Calrissian, because I think he is the most realistic character. He always tries to do the right thing, even though he’s far from perfect.

Dylan: Grand Moff Tarkin. “…perhaps she would respond to an alternative form of persuasion…” That guy knows how to party!

Kris: My favorite character in the Star Wars films has to be Obi-Wan Kenobi. Not only is he just about the most perfect example of what a Jedi aims to be, but he was played by two iconic actors: first the legendary Alec Guinness as old Ben Kenobi and then followed up with his own impressive interpretation of the character by Ewan McGregor. Obi-Wan’s character progression from Episode I to Episode III is subtle, but impactful.

Anya: Han Solo, because he’s got that heart of gold. As cool as he tries to seem, he’s really kind of a massive dork and at the end of the day, he does the right thing. For me it was really solidified by his relationships with both Luke and Leia, and the genuine respect and affection he develops for both.

2. What is your favorite moment in the Star Wars universe?

Kyle: My favorite moment from “The Wars” has got to be the scene in Empire, when Han’s about to get frozen in carbonite. Leia says, “I love you,” and instead of a cliché response of “I love you too,” she gets an “I know.” Man, that guy is smooth!

Paul: The fight between Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. All those lightsabers, flips, and “Duel of the Fates.” Seeing that for the first time melted my face!

Stephanie: When Leia and Han kiss at the end. To me as a kid, I saw Star Wars as a love story just as much as one about action. I couldn’t really understand all the action and the meaning of the Force and what it meant to be a Jedi, but I knew what it meant to love someone, so that’s the part of the story I liked. Also I was weirdly fascinated by Leia’s gold bikini.

Audrey/Marc/Deirdre/Kris: When Darth Vader reveals he’s Luke’s father.

Dylan: “Boring conversation anyway.”

3. If you lived in the Star Wars universe, what faction would you be a part of? Jedi, Sith, Rebel Alliance/Resistance, Empire/First Order, Mandalorians, or other/none?

Anya: Absolutely the Rebel Alliance or the Resistance. I’m all about the good guys, but more than that, I’m about scrappy, human good guys (there’s a reason the race of Man is my favorite in The Lord of the Rings). I love the ones that are fighting for what is good in the world, and for justice, simply because it’s what they believe in. They’re entirely mortal, reckless, and passionate, and I admire that a lot.

Kiana: I definitely want to be a Jedi, but realistically, I don’t have the discipline to be a Jedi master. I’d probably be a lifelong padawan.

Stephanie: I want to say the Rebel Alliance/Resistance, but I don’t know if I’m badass enough. If I was in the Rebel Alliance, I’d be the person who cleans the ships or hands out food. Or I’d be a waitress at the Cantina.

Dylan: Jawa Faction ftw. Utini!

Kyle: If I lived in the Star Wars universe, I would most definitely follow the path of the Jedi. Growing up on Star Wars, I often wished for abilities of the Force. I would try to move objects at will, I would have (honorable) lightsaber fights with friends, or even my imagination. The thing that stuck with me the most is Star Wars had such a clear message of right and wrong. It taught me to be a good person, to not let my emotions get the best of me. In a way, I treated the Jedi code not as a fandom, but rather as an ideology.

Kris: I would love to be a Jedi, but I think after some years of being a Jedi I would eventually turn Sith. I appreciate the ideals of the Jedi, but I am a fairly emotionally-driven individual.

4. What’s the best vehicle in the Star Wars universe?

Kiana: I like the Phantom/Ghost from Star Wars Rebels.

Kyle: Of course the best character would also pilot the best vehicle. Boba Fett’s Slave I is so different from the way it looks, to the way it flies, to it’s awesome weapons. I mean, who else has bombs that create shockwaves that sound like they’re dropping the bass?

Marc: The Millennium Falcon.

Paul: My favorite vehicle in Star Wars is Grievous’s Wheel Bike. Seeing it in action always reminds me of riding a large tire down a hill.

Anya: Continuing my obsessions with those good guys, I love a good, solid X-Wing.

5. Who shot first?

Kyle: Well, in the original cut of Star Wars, Han shot first. If you watch the special editions up until the Blu-Ray releases, Greedo shoots first. Blu-Rays and on feature both characters shooting at about the same time. It all depends on the version of Star Wars that you watch. 😉

Dylan: Han. Scoundrel, remember?

Stephanie: To quote Harrison Ford: “I don’t know and I don’t care.” Just kidding. Han did. But Greedo was running his mouth! What do you expect?

Audrey: A stormtrooper.

Kiana: Han Solo. I also think it was Han that turned on Kylo’s lightsaber in The Force Awakens!

6. Which planet do you most want to visit?

Paul: I would most want to live on Endor. The Redwood National Park is great but Redwoods with Ewoks are so much better!

Anya: Corellia! It’s where ace pilots like Han and Wedge are from!

Deirdre: Hoth, but probably in the summer. I’d like to see what it’s like that time of year.

Dylan: Alderaan. (Stephanie adds, “Before it was destroyed.”)

Kris: It’s a bit of a toss-up between Endor and Coruscant. Obviously, two completely different environments. Coruscant would be awesome because it would be such a busy and expansively endless metropolis with endless exploring possibilities, while I would really enjoy the tranquility of an entire forest-planet.

7. Who would you want as your adventuring companion: R2-D2, C-3PO, Chewbacca, BB-8, or someone else?

Audrey: R2-D2.

Kristin: Chewy – He’s big, strong, and cuddly.

Kyle: R2 would definitely be in my posse! This little droid is often underestimated by the enemy, he’s full of surprises, and he’s excellent at holding interesting conversation.

Dylan: Jabba. Travel in comfort.

Paul: Chewbacca. Ive always wanted to learn Wookie

Kiana: Ahsoka Tano. Ahsoka Tano!!! Or anyone else from the Star Wars Rebels crew, apart from Chopper.

Kris: C-3PO. He can get annoying at times, but that droid is a wealth of information from which I would love to learn. I’d become fluent in so many different languages! It would be great.

8. What’s your fondest Star Wars memory?

Audrey: Seeing it for the first time when I was a kid… Amazing! Still remember that experience.

Marc: Playing with Star Wars action figures growing up, watching the films with family.

Paul: Watching the original VHS trilogy (including the making of) with my siblings over a weekend.

Stephanie: My dad rented Episodes IV-VI from Blockbuster, and I don’t know why, because he says now that he’s always hated Star Wars. But for some reason, he got them for my brother and I to watch, and rigged our VHS to record them onto blank tapes for us. So my brother and I would watch them over and over again, and we both got toy lightsabers and coloring books. Even now, we can talk about Star Wars together. Its always been something that we had in common to make us closer.

Anya: Of course growing up on them, they were a big part of my life since childhood. But truly my fondest memories are from the time I worked at Walt Disney World on Star Tours. It was a great experience – getting to spread the joy of Star Wars with the guests, pranking stormtroopers, celebrating May the Fourth at Hollywood Studios with all their festivities! I miss it a lot.

Dylan: I memory dumped that part of my life to make room for other nerd knowledge.

Kris: When I first discovered the original artwork for the Star Wars series by Ralph McQuarrie is probably my fondest Star Wars memory. It was wondrous for me to delve into the artistic world that McQuarrie had drawn out, and I love seeing the differences between his sketches and how things turned out physically in the films.

Deirdre: I am going to date myself, but when I was a kid McDonald’s had these collectible Star Wars drinking glasses and I remember being so excited when I finally collected them all. I think it was for Return of the Jedi. I used those glasses for years, acting like they were fine China!

Kyle: I was watching my niece when she was 2, maybe 3. She wanted to watch a movie, so I introduced her to Star Wars. She immediately wanted more so I popped in Empire Strikes Back and as the beginning crawl started, my niece, who was sitting on my lap, yelled, “Star Wars!” with so much excitement, I knew I had shared something special. I totally cried.

Kiana: My favorite Star Wars memory is seeing The Force Awakens in theaters. I love that Star Wars always has new content being released, whether it’s movies, comics, or television shows.

Kristin: Seeing Return of the Jedi with my sister, my mom, and my soon-to-be-new stepdad. It was completely sold out and we didn’t even get to sit together.

What are your favorite things about Star Wars? Let us know in the comments below!

Here at Entertainment Earth, we love Star Wars.
