{"id":44001,"date":"2016-05-19T14:14:55","date_gmt":"2016-05-19T21:14:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com/news\/?p=44001"},"modified":"2019-03-06T10:35:46","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T18:35:46","slug":"nbc-powerless-trailer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com/news\/nbc-powerless-trailer\/","title":{"rendered":"First Trailer for Powerless Is Cheesy and Full of DC Hero Shout-Outs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So far Marvel&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com/news\/2015\/10\/02\/marvel-damage-control-dc-powerless-new-series\/\"><em>Damage Control<\/em><\/a> hasn&#8217;t gotten off the ground, but NBC and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/dccomics.asp?utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=entertainment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DC&#8217;s<\/a> <strong><em>Powerless<\/em><\/strong> has and now we have our first look at it!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MLTL49Wa0g8\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s often unfair to judge something based only a two-minute trailer, as it doesn&#8217;t always the reflect the quality of something, but this trailer certainly could be better.<\/p>\n<p>The danger with lackluster trailers is the way they can turn people off and cause the show to fumble if the marketing doesn&#8217;t succeed in other areas.<\/p>\n<p>So far this trailer looks a little too cheesy and on the nose, as well as perhaps not having a huge budget. However, it has a pretty fantastic cast (especially with Alan Tudyk and Danny Pudi), so who knows what the future could bring?<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a synopsis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the first comedy series set in the universe of DC Comics, Vanessa Hudgens (\u201cGrease Live,\u201d \u201cHigh School Musical\u201d) plays Emily, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. It\u2019s when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult \u201chero\u201d in her own right \u2026 even if it\u2019s just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn\u2019t always require superpowers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Powerless<\/em> will air on NBC this fall.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think of the first trailer?
