Mondays are hard. We all know this. But sometimes something happens at the start of the week, and suddenly things look a little brighter…<\/p>\n

Such as this news: John Boyega, still riding the wave of his success from Star Wars: The Force Awakens,<\/em> has been cast in the Pacific Rim<\/strong><\/em><\/a> sequel!<\/p>\n

My support for the Pacific Rim<\/em> franchise is no secret<\/a>, and I’ve been following its rocky journey to a sequel closely, so when this news hit this morning, I was elated.<\/p>\n

Boyega will be playing the lead character in the film, who just so happens to be the son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost.<\/p>\n

I already have so many questions: Where was he in the first film? How much did he and Mako (Rinko Kikuchi) grow up together? Is he a jaeger pilot?<\/p>\n

Basically, I am more than ready for this film.<\/p>\n

Steven S. DeKnight will be directing the sequel, while creator and director of the first film Guillermo del Toro is acting strictly as producer this time around.<\/p>\n

Boyega can next be seen in The Circle<\/em> with Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, Imperial Dreams,<\/em> and Watership Down<\/em> with James McAvoy.<\/p>\n
