It would seem that Hollywood may have learned from their past mistakes and decided to start with a good story this time.

Following an announcement made by Legendary Pictures that they had won the rights to make a Pokémon movie, Variety is reporting that Nicole Perlman (co-writer of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel movies) along with Alex Hirsch (writer of the critically-acclaimed Gravity Falls TV series that aired on Disney) are in negotiations to pen the Pokémon movie script.

Based on Nintendo’s adventure-mystery game, Detective Pikachu, the film is set to be a live-action telling of the game’s story, which involves a Pikachu who can’t fight like the others, so he instead uses his incredible intellect to go around the city solving mysteries.

Here’s the trailer for the game:

Looks fun, right?

A detective mystery taking place in the heart of the Pokémon world involving a Pikachu who is horrible at being a Pokémon?
