The second official trailer for Disney and Lucasfilm\u2019s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story<\/em> hit the web this morning and it’s intense.<\/p>\n

The trailer is packed with details and those of us who\u00a0were hoping for a little more backstory for the first standalone Star Wars<\/em> film finally got our wish. We delve into Jyn Erso\u2019s past and at last, see the catalyst of the film \u2013 the long-missing Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) – after he was briefly alluded to in previous\u00a0trailers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We learn that Galen helped the Empire build the Death Star, more than likely under duress as he tells a young Jyn \u201cWhatever I do, I do it to protect you.\u201d With that, Orson Krennic\u00a0shows up to the Erso homestead with six Death Troopers in tow, which doesn\u2019t bode well for Galen.<\/p>\n

The trailer gives us a few more shots of Darth Vader, including the one from the behind-the-scenes reel<\/a>. And a new scene where\u00a0Krennic pontificates on the power of the Ultimate Weapon\u00a0to the Dark Lord of the Sith. If there is anyone you don\u2019t need<\/em> to explain the power of the Death Star to it\u2019s Vader (unless you don\u2019t mind getting Force-choked)!<\/p>\n

From early rumors, we heard that Rogue One<\/em> was supposed to be a heist film but this trailer shows\u00a0the movie is\u00a0more aligned to how Director Gareth Edwards originally described it\u00a0– Saving Private Ryan<\/em> in the Star Wars<\/em> universe.<\/p>\n

To that end, we get explosive\u00a0combat scenes: There\u2019s an AT-ST blowing stuff up, AT-ACTs stomping around in the jungle, and some X-wings getting into the action.<\/p>\n
