{"id":53677,"date":"2017-03-29T16:27:37","date_gmt":"2017-03-29T23:27:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/?p=53677"},"modified":"2019-05-16T14:41:16","modified_gmt":"2019-05-16T21:41:16","slug":"james-bond-goldfinger-action-figures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/james-bond-goldfinger-action-figures\/","title":{"rendered":"We Must Be Dreaming &#8211; James Bond Goldfinger Action Figures!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to Auric Goldfinger, \u201cman has achieved miracles in every field of human endeavor, except crime.\u201d Be that as it may, we know the men and women of Big Chief Studios have achieved a miracle in deluxe, collectible action figures with this trio of key characters from the third, and arguably the most acclaimed, James Bond film, <em>Goldfinger <\/em>(1964).<\/p>\n<p>Based on Ian Fleming\u2019s 1959 novel (the seventh in his Bond series), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/hitlist.asp?company=Big+Chief+Studios&amp;theme=James+Bond&amp;searchorder=com&amp;utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=product\"><em>Goldfinger <\/em><\/a>helped set the template for all later Bond movies &#8211; the pre-credits action sequence, the high-tech spy gadgets, the globe-spanning adventure &#8211; and enjoyed popular and critical success, even becoming the first Bond movie to win an Academy Award (Best Sound Editing). The late Roger Ebert wrote, on the movie\u2019s 30th anniversary, \u201cof all the Bonds, <em>Goldfinger<\/em> is the best\u2026 If it is not a great film, it is great entertainment, and contains all the elements of the Bond formula that would work again and again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each of these 1:6 scale figures, all produced with an eye to meticulous on-screen accuracy, are dressed in hand-tailored fabric costumes and come with ten pairs of interchangeable hands and various, character-appropriate props. Each can be displayed in front of a printed backdrop with a display stand that features a light-up name plaque.<\/p>\n<p>Want some specifics? (Admit it: You\u2019re hearing Shirley Bassey and those trumpets in your head <em>right now!<\/em>) Here\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/prodinfo.asp?number=DCL47662&amp;utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=product\">Auric Goldfinger himself<\/a>, \u201cthe man with the Midas touch,\u201d as portrayed by Gert Forbe (although another actor, Michael Collins, dubbed the German actor\u2019s lines). He cuts a sharp albeit sinister and, let\u2019s face it, slightly pudgy figure in his golden-vested outfit. This Bond baddie comes with six signature props, including his golden .38 revolver and a bar of recovered German gold bullion. He makes a marvelous action figure, but, oh, pretty collectors, beware: \u201cHe only loves gold!\u201d (Sing it, Shirley!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/prodinfo.asp?number=DCL47664&amp;utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=product\"><strong>James Bond<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-53680\" src=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/DCL47664lg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/DCL47664lg.jpg 500w, https:\/\/\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/DCL47664lg-400x400.jpg 400w, https:\/\/\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/DCL47664lg-380x380.jpg 380w, https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/DCL47664lg-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of memorable movie music, our hero has one of cinema\u2019s most instantly recognizable themes, and you won\u2019t be able to stop yourself from humming it while you pose <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/prodinfo.asp?number=DCL47664&amp;utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=product\">Sean Connery\u2019s dapper 007<\/a> on your shelf. Dressed (and licensed) to kill in his dashing three-piece suit, Bond wears a pair of shoes with a secret, sliding heel compartment. The large and small homing devices from Q-Branch are included, but are, alas, non-functional &#8211; so if you misplace this figure, you\u2019re on your own. Bond also boasts his celebrated Rolex Submariner wristwatch, his iconic Walther PPK pistol, and five other props. He\u2019s the man, after all, who painted Jill Masterson (played by Shirley Eaton) in gold paint from head to heel (contrary to urban legend, Eaton survived her body paint, arguably becoming cinema\u2019s sexiest \u201ccorpse\u201d in the process). And he\u2019s a vicious shot with his steel-rimmed bowler hat, one of the six props this figure comes with. (How could it not be?) Another is a golf ball; we suggest you not crush it.<\/p>\n<p>We know Bond enthusiasts could talk all day about these legendary characters, but we don\u2019t expect you talk\u2026 we expect you to buy!
