Bounding through space and time with seemingly bottomless reserves of energy and wit, Smith\u2019s Doctor, the self-styled \u201cmadman with a box,\u201d helped bring Britain\u2019s most famous science fiction franchise a supernova-sized explosion of visibility and popularity on this side of the pond (no pun intended).<\/span><\/p>\n

Gareth Roberts\u2019 script showcased Smith\u2019s gift for physical comedy and his and Corden\u2019s comedic chemistry to full effect while delivering a sweet and sentimental finish affirming the power of love. (Some fans felt <\/span>Doctor Who<\/span><\/i> leaned too heavily on that moral during Steven Moffat\u2019s years at the helm, but this blogger thinks we probably need to hear more about love\u2019s power in the media these days, not less!)<\/span><\/p>\n

Titan\u2019s <\/span>miniature vinyl TARDIS<\/strong><\/a>, meanwhile, presents the Doctor\u2019s iconic time machine as Vincent Van Gogh painted it, an image glimpsed at the beginning of \u201cThe Pandorica Opens.\u201d In that episode, the first half of the fifth season\u2019s universe-shattering finale, the TARDIS became trapped in a single, terrifying moment of time, its endless explosion causing cracks throughout the time-space continuum – including the ones in Matt Smith\u2019s very first and very last episodes (\u201cThe Eleventh Hour\u201d and \u201cThe Time of the Doctor,\u201d respectively).<\/span><\/p>\n
