Hasbro, the world’s largest toymaker, announced today that it agreed to acquire several franchises, including Power Rangers<\/em><\/a>, from Saban Entertainment.<\/p>\n

The deal between the two companies is for $520 million in cash and stock and includes smaller franchises ’80s and ’90s kids recognize as My Pet Monster<\/em> and Popples<\/em>. In addition to toys, Hasbro already owns other entertainment-based franchises for\u00a0which it produces a plethora of movies and TV shows, including My Little Pony<\/em> and Transformers<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Hasbro signed a master license agreement with Saban<\/a> to produce and bring to market a variety of toys and role-play items for the Power Rangers<\/em> franchise, so this acquisition is in line to help boost the company’s hold on the lucrative series worldwide.<\/p>\n

According to Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s chairman and chief executive officer, “Shortly after entering into our licensing arrangement, it became clear that now was the time to begin investing in unlocking Power Rangers\u2019 <\/em>full potential. We see significant opportunity for Power Rangers<\/em> across our entire brand blueprint, including toys and games, consumer products, digital gaming, and entertainment, as well as geographically throughout our global retail footprint. We couldn\u2019t be more pleased that Haim Saban will continue in a consulting role to further guide our development of this valuable property for the next generation of Power Rangers<\/em> fans.”<\/p>\n

The first Power Rangers<\/em> products<\/a> from Hasbro are set to hit shelves and online retailers in spring 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
