Shadow of the Tomb Raider <\/i>rounds out the reboot trilogy of games begun with Tomb Raider<\/i> (2013) and continued in Rise of the Tomb Raider<\/i> (2015). It immerses players in Lara Croft\u2019s desperate battle against the evil Order of Trinity and a looming Mayan apocalypse. (And you thought you’d<\/em> seen tough times…)<\/p>\n

The game boasts beautifully realistic graphics; cinematic-quality gameplay with new elements like grappling, rappelling, and underwater swimming; an exotic Amazonian city that\u2019s the biggest hub space in any of the franchise\u2019s games; and, appropriately enough, tons of terror-filled tombs to raid.\u00a0Shadow of the Tomb Raider<\/i> should be epic. So who better than WETA Workshop to create an epic statue based on it?<\/p>\n

Designed by concept designer Daniel Falconer and rendered in 1:4 scale polystone by digital sculptor Daniel Cockersell, this statue shows Lara pursuing adventure in the jungle. She doesn’t seem to know a stealthy, snarling jaguar prepares to pounce on her from a mossy tree branch overhead.<\/p>\n

In Mayan lore, several ancient gods and heroes appear as jaguars. But considering Lara\u2019s weapons – the rust-covered machete in her hand, the pistol on her hip (no twin guns in the reboot games), and the bow slung across her back – and her prowess with them, we don\u2019t give this jaguar much of a chance when the big cat finally and foolishly strikes!<\/p>\n

Intricate details make this exciting statue an engrossing work of art. Notice, among others, the carvings on its base, the jade amulet around Lara\u2019s neck, and the amazingly lifelike look of alert expectation on her face. The piece stands over 18-inches tall. It makes a magnificent centerpiece to any collection celebrating video games\u2019 most famous female action hero.<\/p>\n
