{"id":62042,"date":"2018-09-18T09:00:48","date_gmt":"2018-09-18T16:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com/news\/?p=62042"},"modified":"2020-04-24T11:55:28","modified_gmt":"2020-04-24T18:55:28","slug":"captain-marvel-trailer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com/news\/captain-marvel-trailer\/","title":{"rendered":"The First Captain Marvel Trailer Is Not What You Think It Is"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first trailer\u00a0for <em>Marvel Studios&#8217; Captain Marvel<\/em> debuted Tuesday on Good Morning America\u00a0and from the moment we are introduced to Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) as she crashes into a Blockbuster Video we might think that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/s\/captain-marvel\/t?utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=product\"><em>Captain Marvel<\/em><\/a> is going to lean way to far into nostalgia, but it doesn&#8217;t. What it does is set up that this film is a period piece in a fun way. The Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) narration hits and we think this is going to be a somber film, but we remember that most Marvel Studio films have a great balance of humor and seriousness (see Carol Danvers punching\u00a0the old lady).<\/p>\n<p>What the trailer shows in a smart, shorthand is what the movie\u00a0really is, is the first of its kind. It&#8217;s Marvel&#8217;s introduction into the female-led solo film. And it&#8217;s what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been leading up to. It&#8217;s a perfect blend of the MCU films that came before it ( a mix of <em>Captain\u00a0America: The First Avenger<\/em>, <em>Thor<\/em>, and <em>Guardians\u00a0of the Galaxy<\/em>). What we get is something a little unexpected, a genuine sci-fi action film that kicks butt but also has a\u00a0ton of heart.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entertainmentearth.com\/s\/captain-marvel\/t?utm_source=ee-blog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=product\">Captain Marvel<\/a> says in the trailer, &#8220;I\u2019m not what you think I am,&#8221; and hopefully, the\u00a0film is even more than we ever thought it could be.
