Description
B-17G-40 42-97061 of the 401st Bombardment Squadron Replica:
Take home a piece of World War II history with this die-cast 1:72 scale replica of the B-17G-40. This airplane was one of the 91st BG's most famous bombers, where the aircraft was assigned to the group in mid March 1944. Its artwork was applied by well-known artist Sgt. Tony Starcer, and the bomber was christened by ‘Ike' himself with a bottle of Mississippi River water on April 11, 1944. A stalwart of bombing operations in the ETO, this aircraft led the group on at least 32 missions. Having survived the war, it was flown back to the USA in the summer of 1945 and eventually sold for scrap. Comes with 5 figures!
