Description
Heinkel He 111H-1 wk-nr 5449 Airplane Replica:Being first is not always the best. This is a die-cast 1:72 scale replica of Heinkel He 111H-1. This aircraft had the dubious distinction of being the very first Luftwaffe bomber to be shot down over the British Isles, the aircraft crash-landing in the Lammermuir Hills near Edinburgh after being set upon by Spitfire Is from Nos 602 and 603 Sqns on October 28, 1939. The He 111 had two sets of uppersurface wing crosses, this highly unusual feature being adopted by the unit to prevent its bombers from being accidentally shot down by friendly fighters.
