Elektra Natchios, the daughter of a greek Ambassador, earned her first black belt when she was twelve years old. In college she met Matt Murdock, the man who would become Daredevil. He was her first love, and she his. When terrorists tried to hold her father hostage, she and Matt foiled the terrorist plot, but tragically her father was killed by a police sniper amidst the confusion. Overwhelmed by pain and anger she left college and Matt behind, dedicating her life completely to her only outlet, the martial arts. When her sensei could train her no more, he sent her to seek out the secret ninja order, The Chaste. But their leader, sensed her unquenchable rage and cast her out. Attempting to regain their favor she tried to infiltrate The Hand, a sinister ninja order and enemies of The Chaste. Once inside, she hoped to use their secrets against them, but her plan backfired when she was tricked into killing her former sensei during intiation. Consumed by despair, The Hand was able to corrupt her. She trained in their dark arts, but their grip was tenuous. Eventually, she betrayed The Hand and struck out on her own. Years later, she reunited with her former love, Daredevil, however this time as adversaries when The Kingpin, hired her to kill Daredevil's best friend. Though now a cold blooded killer, she refused to complete her task. For her betrayal, she was struck down by Bullseye, a rival assassin and she died in Daredevil's arms. The Hand tried to resurrect Elektra, but their ceremony was stopped by Daredevil. Her resurrection was later completed by The Chase. Unfortunately her endless rage remained and she was again rejected by the noble ninja clan. She now roams the globe as a freelance assassin. With her fate balanced on a razors edge between darkness and redemption she seeks a destiny of her own. Hers is a soul that will never know peace as she forever tries to scale a wall that cannot be scaled.
