The surviving citizens of these planets are forced to flee under the wing of their race's only surviving warship, a 4,100-foot-long carrier craft named the Galactica.

The original Cylons were a warlike reptilian race that was eventually overtaken by its own technologically advanced androids. After the 1,000-yahren Great War, the 12 worlds of the human also fell before these unfeeling renegade machines. The intelligence of the Cylon Centurion is not as great as the I-L Series Cylons, so their strategy has been to overwhelm their enemy with large numbers, many of which will be destroyed. They mindlessly obey the I-L Cylons, such as the Imperious Leader and the appropriately named Lucifer, aide to Commander Baltar.
