Working from pictures of the original sculpt by Chris Mueller and knowledge from creature expert Bob Burns, Factory Entertainment used advanced 3-D modeling techniques to build this hand-painted, 1:1 scale, stone-effect polyresin reproduction. Support bars are permanently molded into the wrist bones to create stability and a durable replica suitable for display, mirroring the "specimen" presentation style seen in the film during the scenes when the fossil is examined at the marine biology institute. Each Creature from the Black Lagoon Fossilized Hand Prop Replica includes a limited edition plaque, certificate of authenticity, and detailed prop story booklet, presented in a full-color box designed to emulate a shipping crate. Like other props from this era of the silver screen, some mystery surrounds the original artifact, and much of its past has been shrouded by the mists of time. So, some archaeological digging was required! To help uncover the facts, Factory Entertainment turned to creature expert and general all-around Universal Monsters aficionado, collector extraordinaire, Bob Burns. Lurking in Bob's basement were some rare behind-the-scenes photographs featuring the sculptor of the original prop, Chris Mueller. These detailed photos and Bob’s encyclopedic knowledge of the film made the recreation of this piece possible, with the highest level of accuracy using advanced 3-D modeling techniques.
