Mademoiselle Marie first appeared in Star Spangled War Stories #84. At just over five feet and just under 100 pounds, this diminutive terror was a giant in the eyes of the allied soldiers she saved or assisted on the WWII battlefield. Marie was an enigma, and she liked it that way. She never revealed her full name! However, those who faced her cunning and those who felt her sting all knew when they had come into contact with the dangerous lady. She especially liked to foil her arch nemesis, Commander Von Ekt.
Marie was a master of tactical guerrilla warfare as well a fierce physical combatant. She could shoot like a sniper, and she could do it while disguised as a peasant or a noblewoman. Rumor has it that Marie was shot alongside the St. Joan River on the eve of Liberation Day in her native France. Of course, like all things with Marie, her death could never be confirmed. Perhaps it was a smoke screen from the mistress herself, but who knows? Marie is a testament to the courage of unheralded fighting women from all over the world. Her skill, cunning, and bravery are a model for fighting forces everywhere.
