The series stars an ensemble cast of fantastical state-of-the-art animated creatures created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop and Brian Froud, the original movie's conceptual designer. The main characters include Taron Egerton as Rian, a Gelfling crystal castle guard of the Stonewood Clan; Anya Taylor-Joy as Brea, a Gelfling princess of the Vapra Clan; Nathalie Emmanuel as Deet, a Gelfling animal carer of the Grottan Clan; and Donna Kimball as Aughra, the embodiment of the planet Thra and an astronomer - but there are plenty of others to grab your undivided attention!

The Dark Crystal is an animated-puppet 1982 fantasy adventure film directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. It studies the nature of good and evil in terms of conscience, vital drive, and the nature of harmony and stars the voices of Stephen Garlick, Lisa Maxwell, Billie Whitelaw, Percy Edwards, and Barry Dennen. Like most of Henson's work, the characters are Muppets, although The Muppet Show characters like Kermit and Miss Piggy don't appear. The plot involves Jen, an elf-like Gelfling on a quest to restore balance to his world by returning the lost Shard of a powerful but broken gem.
