A Nightmare on Elm Street is an American horror franchise that consists of 8 slasher films, a television show, novels, and comic books. The franchise is based on the fictional character of Freddy Krueger, who stalks and kills teenagers in the dream world. If Freddy kills the teenager in the dream world, then they die in the real world. The original film was written and directed by Wes Craven and features John Saxon, Heather Langenkamp, Ronee Blakley, Amanda Wyss, Jsu Garcia, Robert Englund, and Johnny Depp in his feature film debut.
