Goku, named Kakarot at birth, originates from the planet Vegeta and survived the planetās destruction at the hands of Freiza thanks to his parents. Sensing Freizaās intentions, his parents sent him away in an Attack Cube that would eventually land on Mount Paozu and be found by an elderly man named Gohan. Gohan would give this child the name Son Goku and decided to raise him. Unbeknownst to Gohan, Goku was sent to Earth to kill its inhabitants so it could be sold to Freiza and spare planet Vegeta. Gokuās aggression and disobedience were signs of these nefarious intentions but one day the young Saiyan fell down a deep ravine and hit his head, suffering some severe trauma that would send him into a coma and make him forget any intentions of destroying Earthās inhabitants. After waking up Goku was lost all aggression and became a kind, mild-mannered young boy thanks to Gohanās teachings. Gohan trained Goku in martial arts up until his death and instilled a strong work ethic that would make Goku constantly push himself to work and train to be the best warrior possible. With the help of Master Roshi, a turtle hermit who Goku meets on the beach, Goku is able to become one of the most powerful warriors in the universe.
Gokuās past eventually catches up with him in the Dragon Ball Z saga. Gokuās brother, Raditz, comes to Earth to inform Goku of his mission to cleanse the Earth of its inhabitants for it to be sold but Goku refuses to do so and eventually must make the ultimate sacrifice to save his home. Goku would come back though and would go on to save the Earth again and again, always remaining humble and still worked at being the best despite all his accomplishments.
