Beastly is a remarkable fantasy-romance film from CBS Films that presents the timeless Beauty and the Beast fairytale as retold in Alex Flinn's 2007 novel. It stars Alex Pettyfer as Kyle Kingson (the Beast), Vanessa Hudgens as Linda "Lindy" Owens (Beauty), Mary-Kate Olsen as witch Kendra Hilferty, Neil Patrick Harris as Will Fratalli (Kyle's tutor), and Lisa Gay Hamilton as Kyle's housekeeper. The story takes place in modern-day New York City where Kyle Kingson, a handsome young man with a mean streak, is cursed and transformed into a grotesque monster by a vengeful witch. Rejected by his father, Kyle retreats to Brooklyn where, in exchange for protection, a desperate drug addict permits his beautiful daughter to live with the hideous recluse. The unlikely couple eventually develops a deep and enormously meaningful relationship that neither anticipated.
