Paul McGann starred in the 1996 BBC/Fox Network TV movie (and many subsequent Big Finish audio adventures) as arguably the most individual, and certainly the most outwardly romantic, incarnation of the Doctor. The Eighth Doctor is perhaps best known as the first Doctor to break the long-standing taboo against romantic involvement with a companion when he kissed his assistant, Grace Holloway.
