Description

Outer Limits Series 1 Set:

Sideshow Toys presents action figures based upon the classic Sci-Fi television series The Outer Limits. This set of two individually packaged 12 inch action figures includes: 1x "Gwyllm Griffiths," a twentieth-century coal miner transformed into a man of the distant future by scientist Professor Mathers, and 1x "Ebonite Interrogator," of the alien Ebonites, a satanic, batwinged, gargoyle-like being.

David McCallum portrays Gwyllm Griffiths, a Welsh coal miner "thrust forward into our biological future" by Professor Mathers, using a a machine that compresses ten thousand years of evolution into the space of a few seconds. Once the "self-generating force" of evolution is unleashed by the device, Gwyllm continues to evolve - his cranium expands, his hair vanishes, and he develops a sixth finger on each hand "for additional dexterity" - until he becomes the superintellect of a million years in our future, unable to relate to the human condition any more than we could relate to apes by comparison. Gwyllm's bulbous-brained countenance is one of the The Outer Limits' most recognizable images, and The Sixth Finger, one of the series' most creative and provocative episodes.

Nightmare is the story of a United Earth fighting force imprisoned on the planet Ebon inside a harsh, alien POW camp. The overseer for their grim fate is the Ebonite Interrogator (John Anderson) a satanically-visaged, bat-winged, gargoyle-like being who can deprive them at will of the power of their five senses, using a sinister control want. The tribulations and double-crosses of their capture provide the meat of the drama for one of The Outer Limits' most unsetting and thought-provoking episodes.
