Who, Exactly, Is Batman?

The brainchild of Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 (1939), where he was called the "Bat-Man." He's also known as the "Dark Knight," the "Caped Crusader," and the "World's Greatest Detective." His alter ego Bruce Wayne, the billionaire businessman who was tragically orphaned when his parents Thomas and Martha were gunned down right in front of their son’s eyes by a petty thief in Crime Alley, is better known to the law-abiding citizens in Gotham while Batman strikes fear into the heart of Gotham’s criminal underbelly. The character’s popularity only grew over the years, resulting in a wide array of movies, TV shows, video games, and more based off his adventures and those of the other Gothamites like The Joker, the various Robins, Jim Gordan, the Birds of Prey, and more. Entertainment Earth has all the merchandise you need to accompany the various forms of Batman media we’ve been treated to over the years and celebrate the character’s longevity.
The Caped Crusader's alter ego Bruce Wayne is the owner of Wayne Enterprises and is seen by the citizens of Gotham as a wealthy American playboy, but this is all an act to hide his true identity as the Batman. As Batman, Bruce protects Gotham City and is often aided by various sidekicks like Robin, Red Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood, Batwoman, Batgirl, and butler Alfred, who together make up the Bat Family. What makes this team of crime fighters so impressive is the fact that none have superpowers and rely on their intelligence and training as fighters in a wide range of martial arts to solve and fight crime. All the members of this Bat Family should be included in your Batman collection!
