Spider-Man (Peter Benjamin Parker) is a fictional superhero in the Marvel Universe. Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, he first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962) and has since gone on to become one of the most popular, enduring, and commercially successful superheroes worldwide. He's arguably Marvel's most famous character. Spider-Man has since appeared in various media, including several animated and live-action television series, syndicated newspaper comic strips, and a series of films.

Spidey has the ability to cling to walls, superhuman strength, a 6th sense ("spider-sense") that alerts him to danger, perfect balance and equilibrium, as well as superhuman speed and agility. He's also intellectually gifted, excelling in applied science, chemistry, and physics.
