Trained at the fabled Red Room in Russia, Yelena Belova set out to replace the original Black Widow, Natasha Romanov, viewed by many as a traitor to Mother Russia, and claim the moniker for herself. After several unsuccessful attempts, she managed to defeat her predecessor, with a helping hand from S.H.I.E.L.D. unbeknownst to her, the entire event was a ruse, and Natasha stepped back into her role, outmaneuvering her would-be usurper yet again. But Yelena is not one to settle for defeat so easily, and she fervently strives to better her rival and become the one and only - Black Widow!
