Russian Spetsnaz Uniform Set:Virtually unknown to the Western Powers until the 1970’s, The Russian Spetznaz were the elite, highly trained forces of the Soviet Army and Navy.
The Spetznaz (troops of special purpose) is the name widely applied to the units considered to be “the elite” in comparison with the general troops of each of the armed forces. There are also special Spetznaz intelligence units.
Spetznaz training consists of normal basic training, then intensifies to weapons handling, physical fitness, camouflage and surveillance, outdoor survival, hand-to-hand combat, language training and interrogation, as well as paratroop training.
Spetznaz units are used for a variety of purposes, however their main responsibility is to carry out strategic operations. These missions often include deep reconnaissance of strategic targets, the destruction of strategically important communications facilities, and demolition of important bridges, highways, railroad lines, and other special assignments.
