It features lights, sounds, high-quality die-cast and injection-molded plastic construction, and a numbered signature plaque signed by Brent Spiner who played Lt. Commander Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the films it inspired. A display base is also included. Add this standard-issue equipment to your costume and collection! It can record trials and play holographic messages, and its universal translator allows it to communicate with non-Starfleet computer systems. It can even sync with other units to form a complex and powerful computer network. The TR-590, or Mark IX Science Tricorder, replaced the TR-580 used in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation as standard-issue equipment. It retains all of the functions of its predecessor and delivers more in a smaller, more streamlined design.
