Peter Parker and the infamous black costume maintained the most intimate of associations until Parker discovered it's true nature - that of an alien symbiote. Discovered in a distant universe during the Secret Wars, the alien costume became as much a part of Parker as anything else in his life, learning to read his thoughts, replicate his webbing, and fight his neverending battle against crime. In the end, its gift of symbiosis was rejected as Parker's fear of becoming permanently bonded to another life form outweighed his gratitude for what the alien had done for him.
