Turanga Leela is a very sexy, one-eyed female spaceship pilot who spent much of her life thinking she was an orphaned space alien and used her martial arts skills to vent her feelings of loneliness. Now that she knows that she is actually the child of doting one-eyed New New York sewer mutants Turanga Morris and Munda, she merely uses her martial arts skill to kick ass. Captain of the Planet Express delivery ship, she strongly advocates for the rights of animals (be they space bugs, Earth vermin, or pre-universe immortals like her pet Nibbler), mildly tolerates Fry's frequent (but unrequited) romantic overtures, and boldly deprecates the loutish behavior of one-time accidental lover Captain Zapp Brannigan.
