After a 20th century US Air Force pilot is accidentally frozen in space aboard a NASA spacecraft, Captain William "Buck" Rogers awakens to a whole new world in 2491, where Earth's civilization has been rebuilt after the world has experienced a devastating nuclear war, leaving it under the protection of the Earth Defense Directorate. After being revived from his cryopreservation by a group of aliens en route to Earth for a trade conference, he is sent home to Earth to find a civilization in New Chicago and desert wasteland outside the borders. When Buck Rogers learns that the aliens that had "saved" him, the Draconian Empire, had placed a tracking device on his ship to find a way through Earth's defenses ultimately to destroy Earth, he must do everything he can to help save his planet. The Starfighter in this TV series is a class of heavily armed spaceships designed for maneuverability and speed.
