G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero is a military-themed line of action figures and toys. Produced by Hasbro, the toy line lasted from 1982 to 1994, producing well over 500 figures and 250 vehicles and playsets. The line reappeared in 1997 and has continued in one form or another to the present day. It was supported by 2 animated series, as well as a major comic series published by Marvel Comics. Hasbro officially announced a new line of 25th anniversary 3 3/4-inch G.I. Joe figures on January 18, 2007 and has stated that the figures will be all new sculpts and the most detailed and articulated G.I. Joe figures ever!
