Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When Cicadas Cry) is the title of a Japanese murder-mystery-style doujin visual-novel series, revolving around a group of young friends and the strange events that occur in the village where they live. The game was later adapted into popular manga and anime series animated by Studio Deen.
Rena Ryugu is the friend of main protagonist, Keiichi Maebara. Rena has an obsession with things she perceives as "cute." Generally, these things are not considered "cute" by others... as she often finds them while treasure hunting in the town's notorious trash heap!
