Chomsky has influenced such fields as artificial intelligence, computer science, psychology, and analytic philosophy. As an activist, he was an early critic of the Vietnam War and remains relentlessly critical of media and U.S. foreign policy. Chomsky is a prolific author; he has written more than one hundred books. In 2013, the bee speciesMegachile chomskyi was named in his honor. One more thing: Chomsky has literally dozens of honorary degrees at places where he has never taken a final exam.
