As the patron goddess of marriage, she sees her husband's love affairs with anger and rage and bears a grudge against his illegitimate children. Among her attributes are crown and sceptre, as a sign of dominion, as well as peacock and pomegranate. A myth says that Hera put the eyes of the hundred-eyed shepherd Argos on the feathers of the peacock after his death. That is how the peacock feathers got their eyes.
