The Little Mermaid, the 28th feature film from Disney Animation, was released in 1989. It's based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name. The protagonist in the movies is Princess Ariel, a young, adventurous, and headstrong mermaid from the kingdom of Atlantica.
