The Pteranodon was one of the largest pterosaurs in the Cretaceous period (145 to 66 million years ago). In fact, with a wingspan of over 20 feet, it was one of the largest known flying reptiles! The Pteranodon probably didn't flap its wings very often, but instead took advantage of the wind to glide through the air… similar to an albatross. The striking bony crest on the rear of its head provided a counterweight to its long beak. Add one of these flying fish-eaters to your collection with this superb Schleich Dinosaur Pteranodon Collectible Figure. It measures about 9-inches long x 5 4/5-inches wide x 2 1/2=inches tall and as far as we know, doesn't bite.
