Having tracked some of the Rebelion's key members to Bespin's Cloud City, Darth Vader dealt a devastating blow to the Rebel Alliance. Not only did he capture Princess Leia and her band of freedom fighters, but he also imprisoned Han Solo in a frozen encasement of carbonite. Next would come the defeat of Luke Skywalker and with that, the beginning of the end of the Rebel Alliance. Due to the shrewdness of Land Calrissian, all hope was not lost. Princess Leia and the band of Rebels were able to escape to the Millennium Falcon. As they lifted off from Bespin's docking platform, Leia felt a strong presence in her mind - it was Luke, calling out to her for help. Moved by this premonition, Leia found the battle-wounded Skywalker dangling precariously from a weather vane beneath the city - the result of a fearsome battle with the Dark Lord. With Luke safely aboard, the Millennium Falcon escaped Vader's forces, and Leia and the others began to devise a plan for Han Solo's rescue.
