In addition to Izuku Midoriya, the world in My Hero Academia is populated by a variety of other young heroes in training that attend U.A High School along with him. Among his peers in Class 1-A are Shoto Todoroki, Katsuki Bakugo, Momo Yaoyorzu, Ochaco Uraraka, Tsuyu Asui, Eijiro Kirishima, and Tenya Ida, each with their own unique Quirks. Their Foundational Hero Studies class is taught by the greatest hero of the era, All Might, who sees great potential in Deku despite him being Quirkless. These heroes keep the population safe from the likes of All For One, Tomura Shigaraki, Kurogiri, and other villains who threaten the world. All Might Eventually passes his transferable Quirk, a power referred to as All For One, to Deku so he could have abilities that matched his heroic persona. The One For All Quirk makes Deku a target for the villainous All For One and Tomura Shigaraki, causing him to leave school early for his peers’ protection.

Despite being born Quirkless, Deku grew into one of the world’s most powerful heroes thanks to his hard work and passion for helping others, and this is part of what makes My Hero Academia resonate so much with its fans. Deku didn’t let his birth circumstances deter him from becoming the smiling, dependable, cool hero he dreamed of being and persevered throughout bullying and other adversities. His determination, passion, and belief in “Giving it everything! For everyone!” is a powerful message.
