Basically, it's an apocalyptic tale of technology gone bad, where Man's creation of artificial intelligence has trapped him in a virtual reality system - the Matrix - run by self-aware machines. The heroes - Neo (played by Keanu Reeves), Trinity (portrayed by Carrie-Anne Moss), and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) - attempt to free humanity from this suppressive system, and as you might expect, things get "interesting" and exciting.
