Spawn Action Figures from the Depths of Hell!
Todd McFarlane is kind of a legend in the toy business, which is no surprise to those familiar with his intricately detailed, highly articulated Spawn action figures based on the character created by McFarlane and launched in the Image Comics comic book series in 1992 via Spawn #1. Briefly, Spawn is a fictional superhero who began as Al Simmons, a U.S. government soldier and assassin executed by his own men and then resurrected from the ashes via a flawed agreement with the powers of darkness. Simmons is reborn as a creature from the depths of Hell - a Hellspawn - with a host of super-human abilities. Thus, the adventures begin. The popularity of the character and comics has continued and "spawned" several other comics, a 1997 feature film, an HBO animated series from 1997 until 1999, video games, and all those fabulous Spawn action figures.
