Poe was born on January 19, 1809 and suffered a mysterious end on October 7, 1849. Although there are many speculations regarding his death, doctors are still baffled by the condition. Found on a Baltimore street on election day, he was sick, delirious, and wearing clothing that was not his own. Poe was rushed to the hospital where he died 4 days later. Theories regarding his departure include complications from alcoholism, rabies, congestion of the brain, diabetes, carbon monoxide poisoning, epilepsy, and cooping (an old form of voting fraud where individuals were drugged or beaten by thugs and forced to repeatedly vote).
