The second-generation SKYLINE was originally a 1500cc family car, but the front was extended and equipped with the higher-class Gloria 6-cylinder engine. One hundred GTs were produced in the hope of winning the second Japan Grand Prix held in 1964. In the actual race, the car succeeded in overtaking a Porsche 904 Carrera GTS, a commercially available racing car that had been entered at the last minute, albeit for just one lap.
